Certainly a classic, mashed potatoes is a dish I loved as a child and still often prepare at home today. I especially like it as an evening side dish, accompanying stews or even just with a grilled steak.
- Difficulty: Easy
- Cost: Economical
- Preparation time: 20 Minutes
- Cooking time: 20 Minutes
- Portions: 4 servings
- Cuisine: Italian
Ingredients
- 1.5 lbs Potatoes
- 0.85 cups Milk
- 3 tbsps Grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 tsps Coarse salt
- 1.4 tbsps Butter
- to taste Ground black pepper
Preparation
Peel the potatoes and cut them into 4 parts to reduce cooking time.
Cook the potatoes in plenty of salted water for about 15 minutes, check that they are soft with a fork.
Drain them with a slotted spoon and pass them through a potato masher.
Place the mixture in a bowl, add the warm milk, the Parmesan, the pepper, and the butter.
Mix well and serve hot.
Notes
We like it a bit thicker, if you want it softer increase the amount of milk.
Alternatively, you can also cook the potatoes with the skin on; they will absorb less water.
