- Difficulty: Easy
- Cost: Medium
- Preparation time: 5 Minutes
- Portions: 1 Piece
- Cooking methods: No cooking
- Cuisine: Italian
- Seasonality: All seasons
Ingredients
- to taste salt (Persian blue)
Preparation
This is a really unique salt, originating from the Semnan Salt Lake in Iran, although nowadays it is mostly extracted from dedicated mines located deep within the Iranian mountain ranges, whose sedimentation processes give it the characteristic color.
The blue hues are due to the presence of sylvite (a mineral rich in potassium chloride) and its aroma is particularly spicy, though not very persistent.
As a salt, it is recommended to limit its use for people suffering from hypertension.
It is particularly indicated for dishes based on grilled or roasted white meats, fish and seafood, for bread, pizza, focaccia, cooked vegetables, truffle, and potatoes.
Alternatively, it can be purchased ready-made, available in major supermarkets.
