Semolina Doughnuts, Perfect for Dipping

Today I made semolina donuts, they are perfect for breakfast and dipping in tea or coffee. It might seem strange to make cookies with semolina, but I must say they are really good and the texture is perfect. I made them in the shape of donuts, but if you want, you can roll out the dough with a rolling pin and make other shapes. To enrich them, you can also add chocolate chips to the dough.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups semolina flour
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup sugar (plus extra for garnish)
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 packet vanillin
  • 3 tbsp lard
  • 2 tbsp milk

  • Plastic Wrap
  • Baking Trays

Steps

  • In the bowl of the stand mixer, add all the ingredients, and the milk little by little. The dough will be ready when it detaches from the walls.

  • Wrap the dough with plastic wrap and let it rest in the fridge for 30 minutes.

  • Form small cylinders, join the two ends and shape them into donuts.

  • Roll the donuts in granulated sugar.

  • Bake at 350°F for about 15 minutes.
