Pizza Bread

in

Today I present you one of my favorite recipes: pizza bread. A simple and quick preparation, perfect for using up leftover bread from a few days ago and transforming it into something irresistible. It is topped just like a pizza, hence its name, and it is an extremely versatile recipe. There are many variations, but this classic version is always the most appreciated. Excellent as an appetizer or as a main dish, I assure you it will be gone in no time.

Pizza Bread
  • Difficulty: Very easy
  • Cost: Very economical
  • Preparation time: 3 Minutes
  • Portions: 10
  • Cooking methods: Oven
  • Cuisine: Italian
  • Seasonality: All seasons

Ingredients

  • 10 slices bread
  • tomato sauce
  • mozzarella
  • extra virgin olive oil
  • salt
  • oregano

Tools

  • Baking Tray

Preparation

  • Before proceeding with the preparation, I want to make a small note: I haven’t indicated the quantities because, in my opinion, the topping of pizza bread, just like pizza, should be done to taste.
    Having said that, let’s begin.
Take the bread, preferably stale for at least two days, and cut it into slices about 0.8 inches thick. Arrange them on a baking tray.
In a bowl, pour the tomato sauce and season it with a pinch of salt and a generous drizzle of extra virgin olive oil. Mix to flavor, then distribute a tablespoon of sauce on each slice of bread. Add the mozzarella on top, cut into slices or cubes, and finish with a sprinkle of oregano.
Bake at 392°F for about 8/10 minutes, until the slices are slightly crispy and the mozzarella is well melted.
Remove from the oven, let cool for a couple of minutes, and serve.

Tips

You can vary by adding other ingredients to your liking and, especially if you have fresh basil, place a leaf on top after cooking.
It should be consumed immediately and is not suitable for storage.
