Turmeric Loaf Bread

in

Yellow yellow this turmeric loaf bread made with the bread machine. Soft and tasty, with flax and sunflower seeds.

It’s so nice to knead bread at home, smell the aroma, the softness, use ancient grains, semi-whole flours, add seeds, nuts, or like in this case some spices like turmeric.

This time I was in a hurry, so I let my bread machine do everything, program 5 mixed wholemeal bread – 230 minutes total –

Turmeric Loaf Bread
  • Difficulty: Easy
  • Cost: Very Cheap
  • Preparation time: 5 Minutes
  • Portions: 1 loaf
  • Cooking methods: Bread Machine
  • Cuisine: Italian

Ingredients

  • 4 cups type 2 flour
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1.25 cups water (warm)
  • 1 tsp brown sugar
  • 1/2 packet dry yeast
  • 2 tbsps extra virgin olive oil
  • 1/2 tsp coarse sea salt
  • 2 tbsps sunflower seeds
  • 2 tbsps flax seeds

Tools

  • 1 Bread machine panasonic

Steps

  • If you use the bread machine, simply insert the flour, water, sugar, oil, turmeric, salt. Mine has a separate container to insert the seeds and another for the yeast that the machine drops at a later time to not ruin the gluten mesh.

But you can also put everything together as per your machine’s programs.

When the bread is ready, take out the basket and immediately remove the bread, leaving it on a rack until it cools.

Then close it in a paper bag and then in a plastic bag. You can also turn your loaf bread into rusks, see this rusk recipe with sourdough or see the simple corn bread recipe.

Tips from thyme and lentils

If you prefer kneading by hand, try to see this recipe, instead of making a loaf portion, and make rolls.

You can use curry instead of turmeric for a spiced bread or spirulina or even garlic or chives. Try adding chopped nuts or raisins to the dough. Or make your bread with thyme and marjoram or sage and rosemary.
