Quick Microwave Porridge
Are you a porridge enthusiast? Then if you’re in a hurry and don’t want to give up on porridge, try it in the microwave.
I’ve often talked about porridge; I like to alternate it with cereal creams. In summer, I opt for overnight oats, where the oats are soaked in the evening and enjoyed at room temperature in the morning.
In winter, I prepare the classic porridge with fruit. If you’re really in a hurry, you can always prepare this quick microwave porridge.
In 3/4 minutes, you have a perfect porridge to which you can then add fruit or compote. The only caution is to choose the right container to prepare it in.
Here’s the thing: the problem with high-power liquids in the microwave is that they can overflow from the container if it doesn’t have a steam-release valve on the lid.
I prepare it in a big bowl with a wooden lid, but sometimes a little milk spills out. So, if you’re interested, I recommend this beautiful glass bowl.
Yes, I recommend glass or ceramic for microwave cooking rather than plastic. It’s important to clarify about this often-demonized appliance, so I’ll leave this exhaustive article.
Every time there’s a debate about using the microwave, and if I publish something, I’m immediately criticized.
I still believe it’s necessary to form a personal opinion from reliable sources and then weigh the pros and cons.
1 – Instead of eating ready-made or pre-cooked junk food because I’m short on time, I use the microwave following expert advice. I don’t cook or reheat meat and fish because I’m vegetarian.
2 – As mentioned, I use safe, non-plastic containers; I don’t heat or reheat food several times that’s been left in the fridge for days, as the heat doesn’t reach the center of my dish sufficiently, and any present germs and bacteria could remain due to this uneven heating.
3 – I pay attention to the type of vegetable I heat, preferring gentle cooking at low watts with water to transform it into steam cooking.
“Microwaves are heat rays and thus different from ionizing radiation. They only heat the human body when they strike, which can lead to burns. Cellular damage or genome damage caused by cancer, however, is only caused by ionizing radiation that moves in a completely different frequency range.“
4 – Here’s what the World Health Organization (WHO) has stated about microwave use.
