Muffins with Jam Heart

in

I love all celebrations, including Valentine’s Day: any occasion is a good excuse to get in the kitchen and prepare something homemade, especially when it takes just a few ingredients to make a simple yet impressive dessert.

These muffins with a jam heart are soft, delicious, and versatile: perfect for special occasions, but also ideal throughout the year for a breakfast or snack that instantly brightens the mood.

Decorated with hearts and pink details, they become romantic and scenic, but without decorations, they remain an easy and irresistible dessert to make every season.

  • Seasonality: All seasons, Valentine's Day

Ingredients

  • 1 2/3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 packet baking powder
  • 7 tbsp butter (soft)
  • 1/3 cup milk
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 3 eggs
  • as needed strawberry jam
  • sprinkles (heart-shaped)

Tools

  • Baking Cups
  • Bowl
  • Electric Whisk

Steps

  • Melt the butter on low heat or in the microwave and let it cool.

In a bowl, beat the eggs with the sugar until light and fluffy.
Combine the melted butter, milk, and lemon zest (or vanilla), mixing well.
Add the sifted flour with the baking powder and salt, gently folding in with a spatula, without overworking the batter.

Distribute the batter into the baking cups placed in the muffin tin, filling them about 2/3 full.
Bake in a static oven at 350°F (180°C) for 18–22 minutes, checking with a toothpick.

Remove from the oven and allow to cool completely.

  • Once cooled, the muffins can be filled in two ways: by cutting the top for a more scenic effect, or by making a central hole to create a soft jam or marmalade heart.

Finish with sugar decorations and themed sprinkles.

Storage and Tips…

The muffins with a jam heart keep soft for 2–3 days under a glass dome or in an airtight container at room temperature.

If filled with jam after baking, it’s best to consume them within 48 hours to enjoy them at their best.
They can be frozen without filling and thawed at room temperature when needed.
