I made it when I had my nephews who love pasta with meat sauce and they loved the surprise of the meatballs with this delicious sauce!

Ingredients

  • 9 oz lasagne (fresh or dried)
  • 12 oz ground mixed meat (pork and beef)
  • 1 egg (medium)
  • 1/3 cup grated Parmesan
  • 2 tbsp breadcrumbs
  • to taste extra virgin olive oil
  • to taste salt
  • to taste pepper
  • 24 oz tomato sauce (Mutti cherry tomatoes)
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • to taste basil
  • to taste salt
  • 2 cups milk
  • 3 tbsp butter
  • 1/3 cup flour
  • to taste nutmeg
  • to taste salt
  • to taste pepper
  • 9 oz mozzarella (well drained)
  • 1/3 cup grated Parmesan

Steps

  • Prepare the meatballs by placing the mixed ground meat, egg, Parmesan, breadcrumbs, salt, and pepper in a bowl.

    Mix well to combine the mixture and form the meatballs, placing them on a plate and continuing until all the seasoned ground meat is used up.

    Now fry them in seed oil, turning them, and then draining the excess oil on kitchen paper.

  • Now prepare the sauce by putting the garlic clove with a little oil and once it has left its aroma, add the tomato sauce.

    Season with salt and add some basil leaves if you like to flavor and let cook for about 20/25 minutes.

    Then add the meatballs to the sauce and let them flavor for a few minutes.

  • At this point, the béchamel sauce is needed to assemble this rich baked pie with meatballs!

    In a saucepan, gently melt the butter then add the flour, stirring with a whisk, and then slowly add the milk.

    Season the whole with salt, pepper, and nutmeg, and keep stirring until it thickens.

  • Okay, we’re ready! In an ovenproof dish, put a little tomato sauce at the bottom, then alternate layers of pasta sheets, béchamel, meatballs, and diced mozzarella.

    Also add some grated Parmesan cheese and continue until all the ingredients are used up.

    Now just bake the dish for about 30/35 minutes in static mode at 350°F (180°C).

    After the time has elapsed, let the lasagna rest for about ten minutes and then serve this delicacy at the table!

Practical Tip
