Dear friends, today we talk about curried lentils, a dish that, besides being tasty, will also give you the beneficial properties of lentils and the magnificent aromas of distant India.
The dish will not be spicy at all and it will also be suitable for vegetarians.
Shall we get to work? Let’s prepare it together
Here are some other dishes where you can find spices or legumes:
- Difficulty: Very easy
- Cost: Very economical
- Preparation time: 20 Minutes
- Portions: 4 People
- Cooking methods: Stove
- Cuisine: Italian
- Seasonality: All seasons
Ingredients
Let’s see the ingredients we need to make the recipe
- 1 1/2 cups lentils
- 1 cup tomato pulp
- 1 cup onion
- 2 tsps curry
- 1 tsp smoked paprika
- to taste fine salt
- 1 1/4 cups whole milk (or partially skimmed)
- 2 1/8 cups water
- 2 cloves garlic
Tools
- 1 Saucepan
- 1 Ladle
- 1 Measuring cup
- 1 Colander
Steps
Take the saucepan and pour in a little oil, the chopped onion, the chopped garlic (without the inner core) and let it soften for about 7/8 minutes.
Now add the spices, the curry and paprika, and mix everything well. Add the lentils (previously washed under running water), the milk and tomato pulp.
Let all the ingredients absorb the flavors and now add the water. Bring to a boil, add the salt, and cook for about 45 minutes. The cooking should be on low heat with a lid on the pot.
After about half an hour, uncover and continue cooking until the liquids have been absorbed and have given way to creaminess.
I served the curried lentils with white rice and pan-cooked ground turkey with olive oil and garlic.
