- Portions: 26 Pieces
- Cooking methods: Oven
- Cuisine: Italian
- Seasonality: All seasons
Ingredients
Here are the ingredients we need to make the cookies
- 1/3 cup cup sugar
- 7 tbsp tbsp butter
- Half packet baking powder
- 2/3 cup cup milk (as needed)
- 1 lemon zest (grated)
- 2 1/2 cups cup flour
Tools
- 1 Bowl
- 1 Fork
- 1 Rolling board
- 1 Cookie cutter
Steps
In a bowl, put the flour and add the sugar and grated lemon zest. Mix these ingredients with a fork.
Now make a well in the center of the flour, the so-called “fountain,” and add the softened butter, milk, and sifted baking powder.
Mix all the ingredients well, stirring with the fork. Do this until possible and then continue with your hands.
Form a smooth and soft dough.
As I mentioned in the introduction, you can shape the cookies as you like. I used a round scalloped cutter, but you can make them any shape you prefer. To get them this thick, I rolled the dough out without making it too thin.
To speed up the process, you can also pinch off small pieces of dough from the ball and shape them into a simple ball, which you will gently flatten once placed on the baking sheet.
Preheat the oven to the static mode, and once at temperature, 350°F, bake for about 13 minutes.
The cookies will stay fresh for two or three days in a tin or an airtight glass cookie jar.
