Chestnuts in Air Fryer

Chestnuts cooked in the air fryer remain soft inside, are ready in a few minutes, and, very importantly, do not produce smoke! Chestnuts prepared this way are very good; I remember that before buying the air fryer, I made them in the special perforated pan, but the kitchen filled with smoke, to the point that I lost the desire to make them…

Now that I’ve tried how good they come out with the air fryer, I make them often! It’s a very simple recipe, too bad we can’t have chestnuts all year round!

Here are my tricks for perfect chestnuts:

1 – I soak them in water for an hour: this way they will remain soft inside.

2 – Once cooked, I wrap them in a towel for 10 minutes: the moisture will make the skin peel off easily.

How to Prepare Chestnuts in Air Fryer

  • With a serrated knife, make a cross-cut on the plump side of the chestnuts and soak them in a bowl full of water for at least an hour.

After the time has passed, dry the chestnuts, place them in the basket of the air fryer with the cut side up and cook for 18 minutes at 392 degrees. Remove the basket and check the doneness. Mine were perfectly cooked, but if necessary, increase the time by 2 minutes, depending on the size of the chestnuts.

Immediately place the chestnuts on a clean towel, wrap them up, and let them rest for 10-15 minutes. This step helps to peel off the skin easily.

The chestnuts are ready; serve them hot.

Notes

Cooking times may vary depending on the model of air fryer you own, always check the doneness.
