Fennel Gratin with Bechamel in Air Fryer

Fennel Gratin with Bechamel is a delicious and cheesy side dish, yet simple to prepare, and cooked in an air fryer it cooks faster than in the oven.

This dish, typical of the autumn and winter period, is a treat for the palate. Maybe it’s because I really like fennel, but with this delicious cream made of bechamel and cheese, who doesn’t like them?

It’s ideal to accompany a meat main course, but don’t forget to serve it with a nice slice of bread to soak up the sauce!

Of course, if you don’t have an air fryer, you can also cook this dish in the oven. You will find the cooking instructions at the end of the recipe.

Ingredients

  • 2 fennels
  • 1 cup bechamel
  • 3 tablespoons grated Grana Padano

How to Prepare Fennel Gratin with Bechamel in Air Fryer

  • Wash the fennels, trim the long tips, and cut them into quarters. You can choose to boil them in water for about 10 minutes and then drain them, or steam them in a microwave-safe container for 10 minutes.

    Put some bechamel at the bottom of the baking dish, add the fennel wedges, salt, bechamel, and finally the grated cheese.

  • Place the baking dish in the air fryer and cook for 10 minutes at 356°F, then increase to 392°F for another 5 minutes to get a nice tasty crust.

    Once you remove the fennel gratin from the air fryer, let them rest for 5 minutes and serve.

You can store the fennel gratin in the refrigerator, sealed in an airtight container, for 2-3 days.
