Original American recipe for brownies, a very delicious and simple chocolate dessert to make. It is a chocolate cake that remains moist inside and once cooled is cut into squares, obtaining the so-called brownies.
It’s a dessert you can prepare the day before, I often make them because everyone loves them and there are several versions.
This is the original American recipe taken from the book American Bakery. Many delicious American desserts by Laurel Evans, which was gifted to me years ago and I adore.
The book is very beautiful, full of photos and interesting recipes with possible substitutions and flavor variations. There is an entire chapter dedicated to cookies and bars typical of American snacks, and if you also like muffins, cheesecake, and cookies, I recommend it.
In the kitchen, let your imagination run wild because it is essential and if you have no ideas, follow me, I will give you inspiration!

How to Make Brownies – Original American Recipe
Preheat the oven to 320 degrees Fahrenheit and line the bottom and sides of the pan with parchment paper.
Melt the chocolate with the butter cut into pieces in a double boiler, stirring occasionally, until you get a smooth mixture.
Remove from heat and gradually add the sugar, then the eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Add the sifted flour, baking powder, and salt, and gently mix with a spatula. Once you have a homogeneous mixture, add the chocolate chips, walnuts, and mix one last time.
Transfer everything to the mold, level the surface, and bake at 320 degrees for 30-35 minutes. It’s important not to overbake the brownies; check the doneness with a toothpick, it should come out dry but not completely clean, with some crumbs attached.
Let it cool at room temperature and cut the cake into squares.
