Ingredients

  • 4 cups flour (the one you usually use)
  • 2/3 cup sugar
  • 1/3 cup butter
  • 1 egg
  • 12 g fresh yeast
  • 1 lemon zest
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 3/4 cup raisins
  • 3/4 cup milk

Steps

  • Soak the raisins in warm water (or rum, if you like). Then drain and squeeze them well.

  • Dissolve the yeast in warm milk with a teaspoon of sugar, in a large bowl (or mixer) pour the flour, sugar, egg, lemon zest, and milk with yeast.

  • Start mixing, then add the soft butter in pieces and finally the salt, add the raisins last. You need to achieve a smooth and elastic dough.

  • Cover the dough and let it rise in a warm place until doubled in volume.

  • Divide the dough into pieces of about 2 oz each. Shape into logs and close them into rings, place the donuts on baking sheets with parchment paper, cover and let rest for 30 minutes.

  • Bake in the hot oven at 350°F until they are golden (not too dark).

  • Once out of the oven, dust with powdered sugar.
