Cheese Trees

The cheese trees are a no-bake Christmas appetizer that is very delicious, ready in just 5 minutes! Yes, it’s time to finalize the Christmas menu, and you know that, like every year, I provide you with plenty of quick and easy ideas, but this is certainly one of the quickest recipes you can prepare. With Brie or Camembert, you will prepare delightful savory trees that will impress with little effort, and you can even make them at the last minute, as they are really ready in 5 minutes! Cheese trees are also perfect for a Christmas appetizer (maybe served with my Christmas spritz), perfect for Christmas Eve, New Year’s Eve, and New Year’s Day, they are so simple you can even prepare them with the little ones!

  • Difficulty: Easy
  • Cost: Economical
  • Preparation time: 5 Minutes
  • Portions: 12 pieces
  • Cooking methods: No-bake
  • Cuisine: Italian
  • Seasonality: Christmas, New Year

Ingredients

  • 0.88 oz unsalted pistachios
  • 0.88 oz dried cranberries
  • 6 pretzel sticks
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 camembert (or brie)
  • 1 sprig parsley
  • to taste black pepper

Steps

  • Cheese trees are super easy and quick to prepare. First, take the Camembert (or Brie) and cut it in half, then into 4 and then into 6 parts. Then cut each wedge in half and skewer each triangle with half a pretzel stick.

  • In a plate, place the chopped pistachios, cranberries, and parsley, a pinch of pepper, and mix. In another small plate, place the honey.

  • Dip the cheese trees first in honey and then in the nut mix, and they’re ready to be served!

Advice:

Cheese trees can be stored in the fridge for a couple of days. You can also prepare them in advance, but I recommend inserting the sticks just before serving; otherwise, the cheese moisture might make them soggy. You can also cut the cheese into 8 parts, obtaining 16 smaller trees instead of 12. Dried cranberries can be found in the supermarket near raisins; if you don’t want to use them, you can replace them with pistachios or sun-dried tomatoes.
