Sushi Cake

Homemade sushi cake is an easy, quick, and super tasty recipe. We really like sushi, but at home, I like to prepare it in a simple way, without using raw fish or special ingredients. I always use smoked salmon, which I love paired with avocado. A few weeks ago, I made smart sushi without molds, and this time, I prepared this delicious sushi cake for a dinner with friends, and it was literally a hit, I surprised everyone with so little! The sushi cake is delicious, perfect as a main course, single dish, or appetizer, ideal for a party, a birthday, or an aperitif, but also for Christmas and New Year’s celebrations, it is ideal to share with friends and family, and you can customize it as you like, it’s simple but too good!

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups sushi rice
  • 1 1/4 cups water
  • 1/3 cup rice vinegar
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tbsp salt
  • 9 oz smoked salmon
  • 3 avocados (small)
  • to taste sesame seeds

Steps

  • Clean the avocado, cut it in half, remove the skin, and slice it. Line a baking dish with plastic wrap and cover the base with slices of smoked salmon.

  • Add the avocado slices and cover with rice, pressing it down to compact well.

  • If you need to serve it immediately, unmold the sushi cake by turning it upside down, add some sesame seeds on top, and cut it into cubes. If you need to serve it in a few hours, unmold and cut it just before serving at the table.

Advice:

The sushi cake can be stored for up to 24 hours in the refrigerator. You can customize it with the ingredients you prefer and accompany it with soy sauce, sushi mayonnaise, or other sauces to taste.
