Nutella breadsticks are quick and delicious shortcrust pastry treats, crumbly cookies with a creamy filling. I wanted to make a dessert with the most beloved hazelnut spread, also using hazelnuts in the dough, so I prepared these delightful Nutella breadsticks in just a few minutes. It’s an easy and clever recipe, you don’t have to make the cookies one by one, just make a loaf, cut it, and into the oven! This way, the filling doesn’t dry out during baking! Delicious on their own and perfect for dipping in milk, cappuccino, or hot chocolate, these Nutella breadsticks will win you over at first bite!

Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup hazelnuts
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 7 tbsp butter
- 1/4 cup milk
- Half packet baking powder
- 1 pinch salt
- to taste Nutella®
- to taste powdered sugar (for garnishing)
Steps
Nutella breadsticks are very simple and quick to prepare, first, put the flour, finely chopped hazelnuts (or hazelnut flour), sugar, baking powder, a pinch of salt in a bowl, and mix with a fork.
Add the room temperature butter, milk, and mix with a fork, form a soft and compact dough and work it quickly on a surface dusted with a little flour.
Divide the dough in half and roll it out with a rolling pin to form an elongated rectangle, about 1/4 inch thick. Spread some Nutella on top, leaving a bit of edge along one of the longer sides, and gently roll it up, forming a stick. Do the same with the second piece of dough.
Place the two sticks on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and cut them into pieces about 1 inch wide, but do not separate them (I cut the sticks into 12/11 pieces), then bake the Nutella breadsticks in a preheated oven at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 25/30 minutes, until golden.
Once cooked, remove the Nutella breadsticks, garnish with powdered sugar, and separate the various cookies.
Tips:
Nutella breadsticks can be stored at room temperature for 5/6 days. Instead of hazelnuts, you can also use almonds, walnuts, or other nuts as you like. If you want to make them without, replace them with 3/4 cup of all-purpose flour. You can also substitute butter with vegetable oil, use 1/3 cup, you might need a little more milk.
