The puff pastry bites are delicious and very tasty savory snacks that can be prepared in just a few minutes with a few simple ingredients. I named them this way because they can be eaten in one bite, with just one roll of puff pastry you’ll make more than 60 pieces! Perfect for an appetizer, a party, a buffet, or as an appetizer for Christmas and New Year’s Eve, these puff pastry bites will literally disappear, you can fill them with the ingredients you prefer (I chose smoked salmon and salami, I will make them again for Christmas Eve) and I’m sure there won’t be a single one left, super smart recipe zero waste, also to prepare in advance the day before!
- Difficulty: Easy
- Cost: Economical
- Preparation time: 15 Minutes
- Portions: 64 Pieces
- Cooking methods: Oven, Electric Oven, Air Fryer
- Cuisine: Italian
- Seasonality: All Seasons, Christmas
Ingredients
- 2.6 oz cream cheese
- 1.8 oz smoked salmon
- 1.8 oz salami
- 1 roll puff pastry (rectangular)
- 1 egg
- to taste sesame seeds
Steps
The savory puff pastry bites are super easy and very quick to prepare, first fold the pastry in half, brush the top with beaten egg and add some sesame seeds.
Cut the pastry into strips about 0.8 inches wide both vertically and horizontally, you will get small squares. I cut the pastry into 8 parts horizontally and 8 vertically, thus obtaining 64 pieces.
Bake the pastry in a preheated oven at 392°F for about 20 minutes.
Once baking is complete, let the pastry cool completely and separate the different pieces, then open them gently and fill them with a little cream cheese and a small piece of salami or with cream cheese and smoked salmon.
Prepare all the puff pastry bites in this way and they are ready to serve!
Tips:
The savory puff pastry bites can be stored at room temperature for a few hours or in the fridge for a couple of days. If you want to prepare them in advance the day before, I recommend preparing the snacks and storing them at room temperature, but fill them only on the day you want to serve them, otherwise the pastry will not remain as crisp as freshly baked. Of course, you can fill them with the ingredients you prefer.
