Nutella Crunch

in

The Nutella crunch is a simple yet truly delicious dessert. I wanted a treat with the world’s most loved hazelnut spread but didn’t feel like making the usual tart, so I prepared a sort of thin crumbly dessert with shortcrust pastry using just one egg, little sugar, and little butter but with a nice super creamy filling that doesn’t dry out during baking. The Nutella crunch is fragrant and delicious; you’ll fall in love with it bite after bite. It’s a true delight, perfect for breakfast, as a snack, or after a meal. I can only tell you that at my house, it lasted only one day, you absolutely must try it!

  • Difficulty: Easy
  • Cost: Inexpensive
  • Preparation time: 10 Minutes
  • Portions: 9-inch pan
  • Cooking methods: Oven, Electric Oven, Air Fryer
  • Cuisine: Italian
  • Seasonality: All seasons

Ingredients

  • 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 7 oz Nutella®
  • 3 1/2 tbsp butter
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 pinch salt
  • Half packet baking powder
  • to taste vanilla
  • to taste powdered sugar

Steps

  • The Nutella crunch is very simple and quick to prepare. First, place the flour, sugar, baking powder, vanilla, salt, and room temperature butter in a bowl and quickly mix with a fork.

  • As soon as the butter crumbles, add the egg and form a crumbly mixture.

  • Transfer half of the crumbly pastry into a cake pan lined with parchment paper, add the Nutella and spread it over the entire surface, then cover the filling with the remaining crumbly pastry.

  • Bake the Nutella crunch in a preheated oven at 350°F (180°C) for 20/25 minutes. It should be golden, but be careful not to over-bake it so the Nutella doesn’t dry out.

  • Garnish the Nutella crunch with a light dusting of powdered sugar.

Tips:

The Nutella crunch keeps at room temperature for 5/6 days. If you don’t want to use butter (although I suggest you don’t substitute it, as with butter it’s much more delicious, fragrant, compact, and crumbly), use vegetable oil. You can also bake it in an air fryer at 340°F (170°C) for about 20 minutes.
