The savory phyllo pastries are small, incredibly crispy and super cheesy, made with phyllo dough, a base that, as you know, I adore. I had a package nearing its expiration date, and I wanted to prepare these delicious snacks that disappeared in no time! Of course, you can fill them with the filling of your choice, even just cheese, vegetables, tuna, really, let your imagination run wild! These savory phyllo pastries can also be cooked in an air fryer, they are perfect as an appetizer, main course, for a cocktail party, a celebration, or a buffet, they will vanish in no time!

Ingredients

  • 5.3 oz scamorza cheese
  • 3.5 oz salami
  • 1 package phyllo dough (10/11 sheets)
  • as needed extra virgin olive oil

Steps

  • The savory phyllo pastries are very simple and quick to prepare. First, take a sheet of phyllo dough, spray (or brush) it with some extra virgin olive oil and fold the longer edges towards the center first, then the shorter ones, creating a sort of “bow.”

  • Fill the center with salami and cheese and close the pastry, folding the phyllo dough over the filling.

  • Place the savory phyllo pastries on a baking tray, spray them with some extra virgin olive oil, and bake them in a preheated oven at 392°F for about 15 minutes, until golden brown.

Tips:

The savory phyllo pastries can be stored at room temperature for a few hours or in the fridge for 2/3 days. You can personalize the filling with the ingredients you prefer. They can also be cooked in an air fryer at 338°F for about 12 minutes.
