The homemade granola is a crunchy and nutritious mix of oats, dried or dehydrated fruits, chocolate chips, and honey, a sort of rich and indulgent muesli to enjoy for breakfast, in milk or cappuccino, also perfect as a snack. It is rich in fiber and protein, sugar-free, perfect to start the day off right, and from today, you won’t buy it anymore because why buy ready-made cereals, full of bad fats, preservatives, sugars, and colorants, when we can make granola at home, with what we like, and in just 5 minutes? In my recipe, I reveal some tricks to prepare a perfect granola, with beautiful crunchy clusters and tasty ones! And the best part is that it keeps for a long time, up to 3 weeks, and you can also gift it, so you have no excuses not to prepare it!
- Difficulty: Easy
- Cost: Cheap
- Preparation time: 5 Minutes
- Portions: about 2 lbs of granola
- Cooking methods: Oven, Electric oven, Air frying
- Cuisine: Italian
- Seasonality: All seasons
Ingredients
- 5 cups rolled oats
- 2 cups nuts
- 1/2 cup honey
- 1/2 cup chocolate chips
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
Steps
Homemade granola is very simple and quick to prepare, first put the honey in a small bowl, add the oil, and mix.
In a baking tray lined with parchment paper, place the rolled oats and then add the nuts/seeds/chocolate chips or what you prefer. I used walnuts, unpeeled almonds, chia seeds, peeled almonds, chocolate chips, and hazelnuts. I recommend coarsely chopping the nuts before adding them for a more “rustic” texture.
Pour the honey and oil mixture on top and give a good stir to mix all the ingredients well, compact it well, and bake the homemade granola in a preheated oven at 350°F for 20 minutes or in an air fryer at 350°F for 12/15 minutes.
Once cooked, let the granola cool completely before breaking it apart and storing it.
Tips:
The homemade granola can be stored at room temperature, in a bag or airtight container, for up to 3 weeks. You can enrich it as you like, adding coconut flakes or dehydrated fruits (like raisins, bananas, apples, goji berries, etc.); in this case, add them at the end of cooking. Adding a little oil will make the granola even crunchier. If you’re cooking it in an air fryer, be mindful of the basket’s size, as it won’t be as large as a baking tray, so cook it in 2/3 batches.
