  • Difficulty: Easy
  • Cost: Cheap
  • Preparation time: 10 Minutes
  • Portions: about 30 pizza puff pastry snacks
  • Cooking methods: Oven, Electric oven, Air frying
  • Cuisine: Italian
  • Seasonality: All seasons

Ingredients

  • 14 oz tomato purée
  • 5 oz scamorza cheese
  • 3 tbsp grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 sheet puff pastry (rectangular)
  • 1 egg
  • to taste salt
  • to taste black pepper
  • to taste oregano

Steps

  • Pizza puff pastry snacks are super easy and very quick to prepare. First, drain the tomato purée, it should be dry, then season it with extra virgin olive oil, salt, black pepper, and oregano.

  • Unroll the puff pastry sheet and cut it into 3 parts vertically. Fill the edge of each strip with a bit of tomato (vertically), grated Parmesan, and scamorza cheese (grate the scamorza with a coarse grater) and roll up the pastry, forming a roll, with the seam side down.

  • Brush the rolls with beaten egg and a pinch of salt, add a little oregano and cut them into pieces about 1 inch.

  • Place the pizza puff pastry snacks obtained this way on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper (always with the seam side in contact with the baking sheet, you can use the parchment paper from the pastry) and bake them in a preheated oven at 392°F for about 20 minutes, they should be well golden.

Notes:

Pizza puff pastry snacks can be stored at room temperature for a few hours or in the fridge for a couple of days. I made them simple, but you can also customize them by adding olives, anchovies, garlic, cooked ham, speck, or other meats to the filling as you like.
