Orange Shrimp

The oven-baked orange shrimp is a quick and very tasty seafood main course. Roberto bought some large shrimp, and since I had so many oranges gathered from the countryside, I decided to make a recipe with these two ingredients that go perfectly together. How delicious! The orange shrimp is prepared in a few minutes and is flavorful, fragrant, and very tender, with a crispy coating and delicious marinade, baked in the oven, perfect as an appetizer and ideal as a main course for the holidays like Christmas and New Year’s Eve, it will be a showstopper!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 20 shrimp
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 1 orange
  • 1 sprig parsley
  • 1 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • Half lemon juice
  • to taste salt
  • to taste black pepper

Steps

  • The oven-baked orange shrimp is very simple and quick to prepare, for this recipe you can use either fresh or frozen shrimp, in the latter case, let them thaw completely before using.

  • Clean the large shrimp by removing the head, tail, shell, and the intestine found on the back, use a toothpick to remove it.

  • Place the orange and lemon juice, extra virgin olive oil, a pinch of salt, black pepper in a bowl and mix, add a clove of garlic and the parsley stems. Also, add the large shrimp and let them rest in the marinade for at least 15 minutes.

  • Prepare the coating by seasoning the ground breadcrumbs with black pepper, chopped garlic and parsley, and grated orange zest.

  • Coat the shrimp evenly and place them on a baking sheet, add some pieces of orange, pour the remaining marinade and breadcrumbs over the fish, a pinch of salt, a drizzle of extra virgin olive oil and bake the orange shrimp in a preheated oven at 392 degrees Fahrenheit for 15-20 minutes.

Notes:

The orange shrimp can be kept at room temperature for a few hours or in the fridge for a couple of days. You can also prepare them in advance and cook them the next day. If you have time, you can leave the shrimp in the marinade overnight, they will become even more tender, soft, and tasty.
