The cookie sticks are truly exceptional little cookies. I love cookies; they are among my absolute favorite cookies. I’ve made many versions and, this time, I wanted to bake the dough directly in a pan, then cut sweet sticks, delightful cookies. The cookie sticks melt in your mouth, are delicious on their own, at breakfast, as a snack, or as a treat, perfect for dunking, dipped in milk, cappuccino, or hot chocolate, they are sensational and will captivate you at first taste!
- Difficulty: Easy
- Cost: Economic
- Preparation time: 10 Minutes
- Portions: 14 Pieces
- Cooking methods: Oven, Electric oven, Air frying
- Cuisine: Italian
- Seasonality: All seasons
Ingredients
- 1.5 cups all-purpose flour
- 7 tbsp butter
- 0.5 cup dark chocolate chips
- 0.25 cup sugar
- 0.25 cup brown sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp salt (level)
- Half tsp baking soda
- to taste vanilla
Steps
The cookie sticks are very easy and quick to prepare. First, put the butter at room temperature, brown sugar, granulated sugar, salt, egg, and vanilla in a bowl and work with electric whisk until you obtain a soft and creamy mixture.
Add the flour, baking soda, and mix all the ingredients well, then incorporate the dark chocolate chips (set aside a teaspoon for finishing).
Transfer the mixture to a baking tray lined with parchment paper (I used one that’s 8×8 inches) and level it well, place a few more chocolate chips on top, and bake the dessert in a preheated oven at 350°F for about 25 minutes. Do the toothpick test to check the cooking.
Remove the dessert from the oven and let it cool, then cut the cookie sticks; they should be about 3/4 inch wide (mine were 4 inches long).
Notes:
Cookie sticks can be stored at room temperature for up to a week. I do not recommend using only granulated sugar; brown sugar makes them tastier and gives a “caramelized” flavor. I do not recommend replacing butter with oil.
