Speck and walnut crackers are puff pastry crisps with a delicious and creamy filling of walnut cream and speck. Ingredients

  • 7 oz cream cheese
  • 3.5 oz speck
  • 2.6 oz walnut kernels
  • 2 tbsps grated Parmesan
  • 1 roll puff pastry
  • 1 egg
  • to taste black pepper
  • to taste poppy seeds

Steps

  • ● Speck and walnut crackers are super easy and quick to prepare. First, put the cream cheese, finely chopped walnut kernels, grated Parmesan, and black pepper in a small bowl and mix.

  • ● Unroll the puff pastry and fill half with the speck slices, add the walnut cream on top, and spread it evenly.

  • ● Fold the pastry over and press down firmly, brush the entire surface with the beaten egg and cut it into 5 vertical and 8 horizontal parts, but do not separate the pieces (you will get 40 in total).

  • ● Add some poppy seeds (or sesame seeds if you prefer) on top of the pastry and bake in a preheated oven at 392 degrees Fahrenheit for about 20 minutes.

  • ● Once baking is complete, let the pastry cool and then separate the various speck and walnut crackers.

Notes:

Speck and walnut crackers can be kept at room temperature for a few hours or in the fridge for a couple of days. Instead of classic cream cheese, you can use ricotta (well-drained) or robiola.
