Puff Pastry with Pizza Mozzarella Balls

The puff pastry with pizza mozzarella balls is a quick, tasty, cheesy, and super delicious savory pie. I had some mozzarella balls and a sheet of puff pastry about to expire, so I decided to make a rustic pie, filled with cherry mozzarella, which I then topped like a pizza. But how good was it? The puff pastry with pizza mozzarella balls is delicious, prepared in less than 10 minutes and into the oven, perfect as an appetizer, for a snack, party, or buffet, also perfect as a single dish for a quick dinner, it’s simply irresistible!

Ingredients

  • 14 oz tomato pulp
  • 10 oz cherry mozzarella balls
  • 1 sheet puff pastry
  • 1 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • to taste salt
  • to taste black pepper
  • to taste oregano

Steps

  • The puff pastry with pizza mozzarella balls is very simple and quick to prepare; first, drain the tomato pulp and season it with oil, salt, black pepper, and oregano.

  • Unroll the sheet of puff pastry and fill half with 20 mozzarella balls, forming 4 rows of 5 cherry balls each. Close the pastry and press well, seal the edges and fold them inwards.

  • Top the surface of the pastry with tomato pulp and bake the puff pastry with pizza mozzarella balls in a preheated oven at 392 °F for 20 minutes.

  • Remove the puff pastry with pizza mozzarella balls from the oven and add the remaining mozzarella balls and a bit of oregano, then return to the oven for a few more minutes, just enough to melt the cheese.

Notes:

The puff pastry with pizza mozzarella balls can be kept at room temperature for a few hours or in the fridge for a couple of days. You can enrich it by adding some cooked ham, speck, salami, or other cured meats as you like, before placing the mozzarella balls. Instead of mozzarella balls, you can also use chopped mozzarella.
