Quick Pizza Tongues

The quick pizza tongues are elongated mini pizzas without leavening, very fast, soft, cheesy, and delicious. I wanted to prepare pizzas for dinner, but between kids, work, and other stuff, it got late, so I made these soft and tasty mini pizzas in just a few minutes. Quick pizza tongues are simple and delicious, and you can obviously enrich them as you prefer. I made them classic, margherita style, but you can customize them as you like. You absolutely have to try them; they are perfect for dinner, a party, a buffet, or even for an aperitif, they will be a hit!

Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup water
  • 1 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 1 packet instant yeast for savory preparations
  • 1 cup tomato sauce
  • 1 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • to taste salt
  • to taste black pepper
  • to taste oregano

Steps

  • Quick pizza tongues are super easy and fast to prepare. First, put the flour, yeast, salt, water, and oil in a bowl and form a soft, compact dough.

  • Divide the dough into 4 equal parts and roll each piece into “tongues” of dough. Place the quick pizza tongues on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, brush them with a little oil, and bake in a preheated oven at 350°F for 15 minutes.

  • Meanwhile, drain the tomato pulp and season it with extra virgin olive oil, salt, black pepper, and oregano. Remove the mini pizzas from the oven and top them with the tomato and grated (or chopped) smoked cheese.

  • Bake the quick pizza tongues for another 5 minutes, just long enough to flavor them and melt the cheese.

Notes:

Quick pizza tongues keep at room temperature for a few hours or in the fridge for a couple of days. I made them simple, margherita style, but you can enrich them with any ingredients you prefer.
