Oven Baked Artichokes au Gratin

The oven baked artichokes au gratin is an easy, tasty, and super delicious recipe, one of my favorites for cooking artichokes. We are now in the peak of the artichoke season, and made like this, with crispy breadcrumbs and bacon they are truly amazing. Simple and flavorful, perfect as an appetizer, side dish, or main dish, these oven baked artichokes au gratin will be gone in no time, not even a crumb will be left!

Ingredients

  • 10.5 oz artichoke hearts
  • 3.5 oz bacon
  • 3.5 oz breadcrumbs
  • 1.75 oz grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 1 sprig parsley
  • to taste salt
  • to taste black pepper
  • to taste extra virgin olive oil

Steps

  • Oven baked artichokes au gratin are very simple and quick to prepare. First, blanch the artichoke hearts in salted boiling water for about ten minutes.

  • Drain the artichoke hearts and place them in a bowl. Season with black pepper, extra virgin olive oil, and mix.

  • Add chopped garlic and parsley, breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan cheese, diced bacon (sweet or smoked, as you prefer), and mix all ingredients well.

  • Transfer the oven baked artichokes au gratin to a baking sheet, add the remaining breadcrumbs on top, drizzle with a little oil, and bake in a preheated oven at 400°F for 15/20 minutes until golden.

Tips:

Oven baked artichokes au gratin can be stored at room temperature for a few hours or in the refrigerator for a couple of days. You can use either fresh or frozen artichokes; I used the latter, and the cooking time is the same.
