The creamy peas and bacon pasta is a simple, quick, and really tasty first course. I had some fresh orecchiette and wanted to cook them this way; I made them for lunch, and they were a hit! The crispy peas and bacon pasta is a recipe to make in 20 minutes, with a delicious creamy sauce, perfect for a tasty lunch or dinner without spending too much time at the stove. Made this way, it will be loved by both adults and kids, and of course, you can use your preferred pasta shape.

  • Difficulty: Easy

  • Preparation time: 10 Minutes
  • Portions: 4People
  • Cooking methods: Stovetop
  • Cuisine: Italian
  • Seasonality: All seasons

Ingredients

  • 12.3 oz pasta
  • 7 oz peas
  • 3.5 oz bacon
  • 3.5 oz cream cheese
  • 1.76 oz grated Parmesan cheese
  • 3 tbsps extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 onion
  • to taste salt
  • to taste black pepper
  • 1 glass water

Steps

  • The creamy peas and bacon pasta is very simple and quick to prepare. First, put the bacon in a pan, let it brown, and set it aside.

  • In the same pan, pour the oil and sauté the chopped onion, add the peas, season with salt, and let them absorb the flavors for a few seconds. Add the water, cover with a lid, and let them cook for 10/15 minutes until tender.

  • Add the cream cheese, grated Parmesan, black pepper, some crispy bacon, and stir. You should get a nice creamy sauce. Then, add the al dente cooked pasta and mix well with all the ingredients. If needed, add some pasta cooking water.

  • Plate the creamy peas and bacon pasta, adding the reserved bacon on top.

Tips:

The peas and bacon pasta can be stored in the fridge for a couple of days. You can use either sweet or smoked bacon. You can use frozen peas (I use small peas, which cook faster) or fresh ones, in which case, they need to cook longer. Instead of the classic cream cheese, you can use robiola, gorgonzola, stracchino, or crescenza.
