Oven-Baked Fried Cauliflower

in , ,

The oven-baked fried cauliflower is a recipe I love, one of my favorites for cooking cauliflower. After the holidays, you need lighter recipes that are still tasty and delightful, and this is certainly one I make most often. Every time I make it, I could eat a whole one by myself! As the title suggests, the oven-baked fried cauliflower looks fried but is baked (or cooked in an air fryer) with a drizzle of oil, thanks to one ingredient they are golden, crispy, light, and super flavorful, perfect as an appetizer, side dish, or vegetarian main course (also vegan and gluten-free!), you absolutely have to try them, even those who usually don’t love cauliflower, like my daughter, will adore them!

  • Cuisine: Italian
  • Seasonality: Autumn, Winter

Ingredients

  • 1 cauliflower
  • to taste rice flour
  • to taste extra virgin olive oil
  • to taste salt

Steps

  • Oven-baked fried cauliflower is super easy and quick to prepare. First, clean the cauliflower by removing the leaves and separating the florets. If they are too large, cut them in half.

  • Boil the cauliflower florets in water for 10-15 minutes until you can pierce them with a fork but they should remain crunchy.

  • Drain the cauliflower well and coat them in rice flour, shaking off the excess.

  • Place the floured cauliflower on a non-stick baking sheet (or lined with parchment paper), drizzle with a bit of extra virgin olive oil, salt them, and bake the oven-baked fried cauliflower in a preheated oven at 428°F for about 20 minutes until they are golden and roasted.

Tips:

Oven-baked fried cauliflower can be stored at room temperature for a few hours or in the fridge for a couple of days. You can also cook them in an air fryer at 392°F for 15-20 minutes.
