Tuna breadsticks are a quick and super tasty puff pastry appetizer. I’ve already started thinking about easy recipes without too much hassle for Christmas, blessed puff pastry, I prepared these delicious sticks with a creamy filling, they were a hit, I didn’t even have time to bring all of them to the table, half were already gone. Tuna breadsticks are prepared in less than 10 minutes, but you can also make them in advance to keep in the fridge until ready to bake or freeze them and bake them directly without thawing first, I added a touch that makes them even tastier, special and delicious, I’m sure we’ll love them so much, you absolutely have to prepare them for Christmas Eve, Christmas or New Year’s or for an appetizer with friends!

Ingredients

  • 5.3 oz cream cheese
  • 3.5 oz canned tuna in oil (drained weight)
  • 1 roll puff pastry
  • 1 orange zest
  • 1 egg
  • to taste salt
  • to taste black pepper
  • to taste sesame seeds

Steps

  • Tuna breadsticks are very simple and quick to prepare, first put the cream cheese, drained tuna, salt, black pepper, grated zest of an orange in a bowl and mix all the ingredients well.

  • Unroll the puff pastry and fill half with the tuna cream, fold the free pastry over the filling and seal the side edge, then cut horizontally into strips about 0.4 inches thick.

  • Take a strip and twist it several times, place the tuna breadsticks on a baking tray, brush them with beaten egg, add sesame seeds and bake in a preheated oven at 392°F for 20/25 minutes, until golden brown.

Tips:

Puff pastry tuna breadsticks keep at room temperature for a few hours or in the fridge for a couple of days. You can also freeze them. Instead of orange zest, you can use lemon zest.
