The digestive decoction is a quick and delicious tummy-flattening, detox, and purifying herbal tea. At Christmas, New Year’s, and various celebrations, as we know, we eat a lot, and a nice warm and fragrant drink that helps us digest after the various feasts is just perfect. I always prepare several, and I really love this one. I’ve included the fruit peels (apple, orange, and lemon), a stick of cinnamon, and it turned out to be a very fragrant and delicious digestive decoction. Matilde, who prepared it with me and even had seconds, loved it a lot too, try it yourself!
- Difficulty: Easy
- Cost: Cheap
- Preparation time: 5 Minutes
- Portions: 4 digestive decoctions
- Cooking methods: Boiling, Stove
- Cuisine: Italian
- Seasonality: Winter
Ingredients
- 1 qt water
- 1 apple peel
- 1 orange peel
- 1 lemon peel
- 1 cinnamon stick
Steps
The digestive decoction is super easy and quick to prepare. First, pour the water into a small pot and add the peel of a lemon, the peel of an orange, and the peel of an apple, then add the cinnamon stick. Ideally, you should use organic fruit to ensure the peels are perfect. If not, wash them well with a sponge and baking soda (of course, you can do the same with organic fruit).
Cover the pot with a lid and bring to a boil, let the digestive decoction cook for 4-5 minutes.
After the time has passed, strain the digestive decoction and serve it hot.
Notes:
The digestive decoction is delicious and sweet on its own, no need to add sugar. If you want to make it even tastier, add a nice teaspoon of honey, I do not recommend sugar.
