Almond Puff Pastries

in ,

Almond puff pastries are extremely easy, quick, and delicious puff pastry treats. I had a puff pastry roll nearing its expiration date and decided to create these delightful treats with a creamy filling of frangipane cream, a fragrant and delicate almond cream. What a treat! The almond puff pastries are crispy and very tasty, perfect for breakfast, a snack, or as a dessert, and they last for days, but I doubt they will last long!

  • Difficulty: Easy
  • Cost: Economical
  • Preparation time: 10 Minutes
  • Portions: 12 Pieces
  • Cooking methods: Oven, Electric Oven, Air Frying
  • Cuisine: Italian
  • Seasonality: All Seasons

Ingredients

  • 1 cup almond flour
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 egg (small)
  • 1 sheet puff pastry (rectangular)
  • 1 egg for brushing
  • as needed almond flavoring
  • as needed sliced almonds
  • as needed powdered sugar

Steps

  • The almond puff pastries are very simple and quick to prepare; first, make the frangipane cream: in a bowl, mix the almond flour, sugar, egg, melted butter, and vanilla flavoring until well combined.

  • Unroll the puff pastry and fill half with the prepared cream. Close the pastry and cut into strips about 3/4 inch thick.

  • Take a strip and twist it several times, then coil it into a sort of pinwheel.

  • Place the almond puff pastries on a baking sheet, brush them with the beaten egg, add sliced almonds, and bake in a preheated oven at 350°F for about 25 minutes, until golden.

  • Remove the almond puff pastries from the oven and dust with powdered sugar.

Advice:

Frangipane almond puff pastries keep at room temperature for 5-6 days.
