Puff pastry sausage is an extremely easy, quick, and super tasty recipe. I had some sausage to use up, two rolls of puff pastry nearing expiration, and decided to prepare some delicious pastries, making a large savory pie. Puff pastry sausage is perfect as an appetizer, ideal for a buffet or a party, also perfect for Christmas and New Year’s Eve parties. In just a few minutes and with very few ingredients, you’ll serve a really good dish. Puff pastry sausage is also perfect for dipping into your favorite sauce. Who will take the first piece? 😀
- Difficulty: Easy
- Cost: Inexpensive
- Preparation time: 10 Minutes
- Cuisine: Italian
Ingredients
- 28 oz sausage
- 2 rolls puff pastry
- 1 egg
- to taste sesame seeds
Steps
Puff pastry sausage is very simple and quick to prepare. First, cut one of the pastry sheets in half horizontally. This way, you’ll get two strips.
Place the sausage along the edge of one strip of puff pastry and roll it up, using the parchment paper underneath as a guide. Cut the resulting roll into pieces about 1.5 inches (3-4 cm) long. Repeat with the second strip and also with the second roll of puff pastry.
Place the rolls on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper (you can use the one from the pastry) and brush the tops with the beaten egg, add the sesame seeds, and bake the puff pastry sausage in a preheated oven at 392°F (200°C) for 25-30 minutes.
Notes:
Puff pastry sausage can be stored in the fridge for a couple of days. You can also prepare it in advance and bake it the next day. For each puff pastry, use 14 oz (400 g) of sausage, 7 oz (200 g) for each strip. You can use any baking dish you prefer; I used a rectangular one measuring 8×12 inches (20×30 cm), but a round, square, or even star-shaped one is fine if you want to make it for Christmas/New Year’s.
