The APPLE FRITTERS, easy and super tasty, are a classic fried dessert for celebrations and especially Carnival. It’s a traditional dish, generally prepared more in northern Italy, and as such it’s made from simple ingredients that, when combined, are very flavorful and appetizing.
If desired, they can be enriched with the addition of raisins, dark chocolate chips, or by replacing the grappa with another liqueur or with citrus juice to avoid giving alcohol to children. But now let’s see what is needed to prepare these super tasty treats.

Ingredients
- 2 apples
- 2 eggs (medium)
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 pinch salt
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter (melted and cooled)
- 1/3 cup milk
- 2 2/3 tbsp grappa
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1 packet baking powder (about 4 tsp)
- 1 1/4 cups vegetable oil (for frying)
Steps
Making these amazing and very fluffy APPLE FRITTERS is really easy and doesn’t require any special attention.
In a bowl put the eggs, the sugar, a pinch of salt, the melted and cooled butter, the grappa, the cinnamon, the milk and mix everything with a whisk. Then add the flour little by little and the baking powder.
Work everything until you obtain a batter that is not too thick and let it rest for 30 minutes.
Meanwhile peel the apples and cut them into fairly small cubes, add them to the batter and mix. If the batter is too stiff, add another splash of milk.
Fry them by spoonfuls, a few at a time, in a small saucepan preferably with high sides and in plenty of hot oil.
Drain the apple fritters just cooked with a slotted spoon and let them dry on a sheet of absorbent paper.
Arrange them on a serving platter, sprinkle generously with powdered sugar and enjoy them hot.
