Pumpink spice latte

in ,

Pumpink spice latte the recipe that warms up autumn and tastes like American pumpkin pie. And here we are finally: we’ve already made the pumpink pie spice, we’ve also made the Pumpink spice sauce (syrup) and finally we’re here: today we make the pumpink spice latte, that fragrant and delicious coffee drink made famous by Starbucks. If with the first cold days autumn recipes become your passion and you simply can’t say no to a sweet and fragrant pumpkin recipe, the pumpink spice latte is for you!! Crewnecks, warm colors, intoxicating spices and steaming mugs are the perfect mix you can’t do without when the days start to get shorter and the cold takes over. And it’s in these moments, just like a hot chocolate, the pumpink spice latte warms the heart and belly and gives us unique emotions! But how did the Pumpink spice latte come about? This original drink was born in 2003 in Starbucks’ labs, where the Pumpkin Spice Latte combines espresso coffee, hot milk and the pumpkin-spice syrup we made a few days ago. The spice mix used recalls the taste of Pumpkin pie, the American pumpkin pie, a traditional Thanksgiving dessert, while chantilly cream (whipped cream) and a light dusting of spices on top complete everything. One small but fundamental detail: in the first version the pumpink spice latte (PSL) did not include pumpkin at all, an ingredient added only in 2015 to meet consumer requests. At the moment the PSL is the most purchased seasonal product in the American chain and in the USA, its return to the menu indicates that autumn has officially begun. Let’s run to the kitchen; before that, I remind you that if you want to stay updated on all my other recipes you can follow my Facebook page and my Instagram profile.

Ingredients to make the pumpink spice latte

  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 tbsp condensed milk (turned into pumpkin spice syrup)
  • 1 coffee (espresso or two level teaspoons of instant coffee)
  • as needed whipped cream
  • 1 pinch spices (pumpkin spice)

Tools

  • Mug

Preparation of the pumpink spice latte

  • If you have already prepared the pumpkin syrup with condensed milk, it will only take a moment and you’ll be able to make an excellent pumpink spice latte whenever you want: simply heat a mug of milk, add the espresso or instant coffee, the syrup, stir and finish with a dollop of whipped cream and a dusting of spices. This is the version I really recommend; alternatively you can heat the milk, add a tablespoon of blended pumpkin purée, a tablespoon of sugar, the instant coffee or espresso and flavor everything with ground cinnamon, ground cloves, ground nutmeg and a pinch of ground ginger. After mixing everything, finish with whipped cream and a sprinkle of cinnamon.

  • Serve hot and consume immediately.

Notes and tips

Preparing the syrup will give you good flexibility, because you can portion it, store it in the freezer and use it as needed. In the freezer the syrup will remain soft, so portion it in bottles like juice bottles and take them out of the freezer one at a time. Outside the freezer and inside the fridge they will keep for about a week or a little more.

The ready drink should be consumed the same day; once prepared it can be stored in the fridge and reheated if necessary.
