Preparation
As with all chestnut cooking methods, I recommend, if you can, after purchasing them to leave them to dry in the sun for a couple of days. This way the skin that wraps them will come off more easily.
To cook chestnuts in the air fryer, start by rinsing them, then score the shell on the rounded side and collect them in a bowl, cover with water and let them soak for 30 minutes. Drain them and, while still wet, put them in the air fryer basket, sprinkle with salt and cook for 20 minutes at 374°F, turning them from time to time, shaking the basket and tossing them.
After the time has passed, let them rest for a few minutes in the same fryer and enjoy.
Storage and tips
Soaking the chestnuts is not essential, but if you manage to do it, the chestnuts will cook better and peel well. Also, as you already know, chestnuts or roasted chestnuts are best when hot, but if you have any left over, peel them and set them aside to eat before they become too hard or dry
