Strawberry Jam in Slow Cooker

Strawberry Jam in Slow Cooker, a true delight perfect for enriching breakfasts, snacks, or homemade desserts, and very easy to make.

Today I offer you a very simple and practical version, made with the slow cooker, the ideal tool for those who want to achieve a fragrant and flavorful jam without spending hours in front of the stove. The slow cooker allows gentle and slow cooking that enhances the natural taste of strawberries, preserving the aromas and vibrant color.

In this recipe, I only use four genuine ingredients: fresh strawberries, chia seeds, lemon juice, and honey. Chia seeds not only naturally thicken the jam, avoiding the use of pectin or refined sugars, but also add nutritional properties. Honey replaces refined sugar, while lemon juice balances the flavor with a hint of acidity, also helping to preserve the jam longer.

Cooking in the slow cooker on high temperature (HIGH) for about 2 hours is simple and stress-free: you can let the jam cook while you do other things, without the risk of it sticking or burning. In the end, you will get a thick, fragrant strawberry jam perfect for spreading on bread, adding to yogurt, or using as a topping for your favorite desserts.

At the end of the recipe, in the FAQ section, I have answered some questions regarding this preparation. If you have any other doubts or curiosities, leave a comment or use the dedicated contact form at the end of the page.

FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)

  • Can I use sweeteners other than honey?

Of course! You can substitute honey with other sweeteners as you like. For example, agave syrup, maple syrup, or even sugar (white or brown) are great alternatives. Keep in mind that the quantity might need to be slightly adjusted based on the sweetening power and consistency of the chosen sweetener.

  • How long does jam made in the slow cooker last?

If stored in sterilized and properly sealed jars, the jam can last for several weeks in the refrigerator. For longer-term storage (up to 6-12 months), you can proceed with pasteurizing the jars. Alternatively, you can freeze it for even longer periods.

  • Can I use frozen fruit?

Absolutely yes! Frozen strawberries work perfectly for this recipe. There’s no need to thaw them first; you can add them directly to the slow cooker. Keep in mind that they might release more water, so the cooking time might slightly increase to reach the desired consistency.
