Paprika-Glazed Air Fryer Chicken Wings

in

Air fryer chicken wings, glazed with paprika… How tasty are chicken wings!! I remember that not long ago chicken wings were considered a leftover, cheap food that cost very little. I have always eaten chicken wings; my grandfather often bought them: after cleaning them well, he used to cook them on the grill and drizzle them with “salmoriglio”, a typical Sicilian dressing made with oil, lemon, oregano, garlic and parsley. I love cooking chicken wings in other ways too, also using more modern tools, so I enjoy making Fried chicken wings in the air fryer and I also love paprika chicken wings cooked in the air fryer, a very tasty and quick dish that my children adore — they can’t resist licking their fingers like in a famous commercial!

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs chicken wings
  • 1 tbsp tomato paste
  • 2 tbsp white wine vinegar
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 pinch nutmeg
  • 1 pinch garlic powder (or fresh)
  • 1 tsp chives (dried or fresh)
  • 1 pinch black pepper
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce (or salt to taste)

Tools

  • 1 Air fryer
  • 1 Bowl

Steps

  • Prepare a sauce by mixing the tomato paste with the honey and the vinegar.

Pour it over the wings that you have previously cleaned, divided into portions and singed to remove any remaining feathers.

Add the smoked paprika (easily found in supermarkets; you can substitute regular paprika, but it will be less fragrant) along with all the other spices and the soy sauce, which you can replace with salt.

Mix and let marinate for at least 30 minutes in the fridge.

  • Place the wings in the air fryer basket, set the “chicken” function (356°F) and cook for 30 minutes, turning occasionally and making sure they don’t burn.

In the same way, you can cook the wings in the oven for 40-45 minutes.

  • Remove from the air fryer and enjoy hot, perhaps with some ketchup — you’ll see how good they are.

You can store the cold chicken wings in the fridge and consume them within 24 hours after reheating them for a few minutes in a pan with a little water.
