How to make lentil balls in the air fryer
Let’s start preparing the lentil balls in the air fryer. If you use dried lentils, rinse them, then put them in a pot and cover with plenty of water, place them over the heat and cook for 15 minutes. Once cooked, add some salt and let them rest in the water for a few minutes, then drain and let cool. If you use jarred cooked lentils, this step is not necessary.
Clean and cut the carrot, celery and onion into small pieces, boil the vegetables for 10 minutes, then drain them. Wash the parsley and chop it.
Put the boiled lentils, the vegetables, the chopped parsley, a splash of extra virgin olive oil, a pinch of salt and the flour into a bowl. Mix all the ingredients well and, using your hands, take portions of the mixture and form the balls pressing them firmly so they don’t fall apart.
Place the balls in the air fryer basket, spray them with some oil and cook for 15 minutes. At halfway through cooking, open the fryer basket and turn the balls so they cook evenly and develop a crispy crust.
Serve the lentil balls hot.
