Cold detox smoothie with almonds, basil and many benefits

in

Today we prepare a smoothie (with only 1.5 g of carbohydrates) based on almonds, which have antioxidant properties (cellular anti-aging). In addition, they can lower bad cholesterol while favoring the good one, improve triglycerides, blood pressure and blood sugar. A real boon for the health of the whole body. Don’t forget that almonds also help treat cold sores, candida and strengthen the immune system. We add fresh basil (not dried and preferably picked from an already grown plant), rich in Omega-3 (to reduce generalized inflammation throughout the body), rich in eugenol like cloves, a beneficial substance for keeping rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, intestinal and oral inflammation under control. Moreover, basil is a powerful digestive and can also relieve nausea. It also affects metabolism function, blood clotting and nervous system development during pregnancy; related to this, it’s worth knowing that basil is rich in flavonoids and can therefore stimulate milk production during breastfeeding. But that’s not all because a basil infusion can also reduce anxiety if taken continuously, as it has sedative properties. Finally, it is very useful as an anthelmintic (like garlic).

Ingredients

  • 3/4 oz almonds (about 12–14 almonds (20 g))
  • 1 cup basil (fresh)
  • 3.5 fl oz plant milk (unsweetened; coconut, soy or other variety you prefer (about 1/3 cup; 100 g))
  • 3/4 cup water (cold (about 6 fl oz / 180 ml))

Tools

Preparation

  • To prepare the cold detox smoothie, first place 20 g of almonds in the jar of a blender suitable for smoothies (or you can also use an immersion blender), add 100 g of unsweetened plant milk (any flavor is fine; I used soy barista milk, since I tried it for making ricotta coffee I never leave it out; it has only 1 g of carbs per 100 ml). Then turn on the motor until the almonds are well blended.

At this point add 20 g of fresh basil leaves (previously well washed) + 180 ml of cold water (at the temperature you prefer)

Turn the motor on again for a few seconds or until everything is well homogenized.

Transfer the smoothie into a pitcher or a glass.

Suitable for a healthy and beneficial breakfast or snack.

Also Keto Diet: provides very few carbohydrates (1.5 g), good fats 12.6 g and proteins 8.8 g. Therefore perfect for a ketogenic snack.
