Today we’re preparing a Detox Smoothie that curbs hunger made with ricotta, celery, unsweetened almond milk and matcha green tea. It takes 2 seconds to make and is suitable for breakfast, a snack, or an afternoon treat. In any case it gives an extra boost of wellness to the whole body.
Celery, king of the garden
Celery should be considered a precious vegetable. It’s good for almost every organ in our body. First of all it’s low in calories, rich in potassium, and acts as a diuretic for the kidneys (it can even help prevent or treat kidney stones), cellulite and toxins. It keeps our organism remarkably clean. Think that it helps the liver metabolize fats, counteracts lipid deposits and cholesterol, and helps control blood pressure. It’s recommended in cases of gout. It can even clean the walls of our intestines like a sponge. But what our garden king does best is make us feel less bloated, lighter, and more detoxified. A true elixir of long life. So why always leave this poor celery in the crisper drawer? Let’s learn to reconsider it. Every day we can consume it in a simple and quick way. Today, for example, we add high-quality ricotta to the celery, rich in high biological value proteins, and prepare an anti-inflammatory, anti-aging smoothie — anti-everything. One nice cup every day and you’ll feel the benefits. Guaranteed!
They say an apple a day keeps the doctor away, but His Majesty celery has even more properties.

Ingredients
- 1 stalk (about 1.4 oz) celery (better to use the stalks because they contain more potassium)
- 1.8 oz (about 1/4 cup) ricotta
- 2.4 fl oz (about 1/3 cup) plant-based milk (unsweetened)
- Half teaspoon matcha green tea (optional)
- 2/3 cup (about 5 fl oz) water
Tools
Preparation
To prepare the smoothie, first wash the celery thoroughly and drain it. Then put it in the jar of a blender (an immersion blender or Thermomix also work).
Add 2.4 fl oz of unsweetened plant-based drink (I used this almond one, but I often use soy or coconut, so choose based on your taste)
Also add half a teaspoon of matcha green tea and 1.8 oz of ricotta, ingredients important to reach the right protein and fat intake on a keto diet (in this way the smoothie in total provides: carbohydrates 3.5 g | protein 6.5 g | fat 7.1 g | kcal 106).
Once everything is blended (with Thermomix: 10 seconds, speed 8, scrape down and repeat) just add 2/3 cup of cold water to transform it into a substantial, refreshing, and beneficial summer drink.
This way the foam will stay on the surface, so it will almost feel like drinking a cappuccino, but packed with precious properties for our whole body. It can benefit conditions such as arthritis, bronchitis, gout, bloating, cellulite, high cholesterol, indigestion, stomach and intestinal inflammations, hypertension, kidney stones, localized fat deposits, constipation, kidney problems, and fluid retention.
So,
Enjoy your smoothie and good health!
If you prefer an even colder smoothie, just add some ice.
Notes
To transform the same smoothie into a low-calorie recipe, simply omit the ricotta (in this case its caloric contribution will be very low: 21 kcal – carbohydrates 1.7 g – protein 1 g – fat 1.1 g).
