  • Cooking time: 10 Minutes
  • Portions: 10 Pieces
  • Cooking methods: Oven
  • Cuisine: Italian

Ingredients

  • 1 sheet Rectangular puff pastry sheet
  • to taste Powdered sugar
  • 1 Small egg
  • to taste Chocolate sprinkles
  • to taste Colored sugar pearls
  • to taste Dark chocolate

Preparation

  • To make the Carnival masks, draw and cut out different mask shapes on a sheet of baking paper. Then use them as templates to cut the puff pastry.

  • Use the tip of a knife to cut out the eye holes. Place the masks on a baking tray lined with parchment paper and brush each mask with the beaten egg.

  • Masks that you do not want to cover with dark chocolate should be decorated with chocolate sprinkles or colored sugar pearls, while masks that will be glazed should be baked without decoration.

  • Dust all the masks with powdered sugar and bake in a preheated oven (I use convection) at 392°F for 7 minutes, until golden.

  • Melt the dark chocolate in a double boiler and cover the plain masks. Decorate with the colored sugar pearls and let rest for one hour so the glaze can set.

  • Serve the Carnival masks and enjoy!

  • Note: in addition to dark chocolate you can use colored icings to make the masks more colorful.
