The NEGRONI is certainly one of the most loved and well-known Italian alcoholic cocktails in the world.
It has a distinctive taste that mixes the sweet flavor of red vermouth with the bitter of the bitter liqueur and the strong aftertaste of gin in a perfect blend of flavors with an orange color.
Preparing the Negroni recipe at home is very easy, especially if you follow the tips of a professional bartender from whom I borrowed all the tricks — in a few steps you can sip this fantastic aperitif.
For those curious about its history: this cocktail was born in Florence in 1919 when Count Negroni asked the barman at Caffè Casoni to replace the usual splash of seltzer in his Americano aperitif with gin.
Be careful with quantities though, because the NEGRONI is one of the most alcoholic aperitifs known… it reaches up to 82°F!!!

Ingredients
- Campari (1/3 equal to 1 oz)
- Gin (1/3 equal to 1 oz)
- Dry vermouth (red 1/3 equal to 1 oz)
- 1 slice orange
Steps
Pour ice into the low tumbler (short glass suitable for cocktails) filling the glass up to 3/4.
Measure the gin and add it.
Do the same with the red Vermouth.
Finally add the Campari.
Stir and garnish with half an orange slice.

The secret to a perfect Negroni is the balance of the ingredients, so carefully follow the quantities and their proportions: 3 equal parts and you won’t go wrong.
VARIATIONS – NEGRONI SBAGLIATO
The Negroni Sbagliato differs from the classic one by the presence of brut sparkling wine which replaces the gin and therefore results lighter.
To prepare it you’ll need: 1/3 Sparkling wine, 1/3 Vermouth, 1/3 Campari (about 1 oz each) and you should follow the same procedure as the Classic Negroni recipe.
