whipped cream roses
  • Difficulty: Medium
  • Cost: Budget
  • Rest time: 30 Minutes
  • Preparation time: 30 Minutes
  • Cooking methods: No-cook
  • Cuisine: Italian
  • Seasonality: All seasons

Ingredients

  • whipped cream
  • gel food coloring (for the ombré version)

Tools

  • Piping bag
  • Plain tip flat
  • Flower nail
  • Scissors cake-design

Preparation

  • To create perfect whipped cream roses, it is essential that the cream is well whipped and very cold, so keep it in the refrigerator until the moment of use. The working environment should also be cool: the room temperature should not exceed 72°F.
The piping bag should preferably be cold as well: my recommendation is to fill it with the cream and leave it in the refrigerator for about ten minutes before starting to work.
Don’t rush! At first the roses may not come out perfect, but with a little patience you will improve quickly. To give you an idea, the first time I made 8 roses it took me about an hour, while in the video, more focused and with a few tricks, I made 3 in a few minutes.
With practice and calm, you’ll see that you too will be able to achieve elegant and delicate decorations.

  • If the cream deflates at the start of working, it means it is not whipped properly or not cold enough. My advice is to keep the cream in the refrigerator for at least 24 hours before whipping it. For the best result, you can also chill the bowl in which you’ll whip it.
If instead the cream deflates halfway through the process, it means it has warmed up. In this case, don’t worry: just put it back in the refrigerator for about 20 minutes and resume working right after.
With these small precautions, the cream will always keep the perfect consistency to create roses and decorations without problems.

  • To create the ombré version of the rose, choose the color you prefer and prepare it following the instructions on the gel food coloring package.
Using a small brush, draw a stripe of color inside the piping bag, starting from the tip and reaching halfway up the bag. When you then fill the piping bag with whipped cream, the color will naturally blend, creating a delicate and very elegant effect on your roses.

  • If you need to buy the supplies, I recommend this box with all the basic accessories to create fantastic cakes. It’s inexpensive and you really find everything, and even of good quality.
