Pan-fried dogfish with lemon is a really tasty fish and, above all, sold in boneless steaks which is very convenient since we don’t have to waste time removing anything.
It’s really quick to prepare and is extremely lean and tasty, suitable even for children.

Ingredients

  • 1.5 lb Dogfish steaks
  • 1 Lemon (juice and grated zest)
  • 4 tbsp Extra virgin olive oil
  • 3 pinches Salt and Pepper
  • to taste Parsley

Preparation

  • To prepare the dogfish with lemon, first wash the fish under cold running water, then pat it dry with kitchen paper.

  • Heat the extra virgin olive oil in a large skillet and brown the dogfish steaks on all sides for a few minutes.
    Meanwhile, squeeze the lemon juice and grate the zest.

  • Once the fish is well browned, season it with the lemon zest, plenty of salt and pepper, add the lemon juice, lower the heat, cover with a lid and cook through.

  • After 15 minutes remove the lid and let the cooking juices evaporate, taste for seasoning and adjust salt if necessary.
     

  • Sprinkle the dogfish with freshly chopped parsley and serve piping hot and..

  • If you want to give your dogfish with lemon an extra touch, add during cooking one teaspoon of mild mustard and dissolve it with a few tablespoons of hot water — you’ll see how great it is.

Notes

Dogfish with lemon keeps in the refrigerator for 2 days in an airtight container.
You can freeze the dogfish with lemon once cooked and cooled.
