ORANGE RING CAKE

The orange ring cake is easy to make; you can use a Bimby or prepare it by hand. Soft and slightly moist, it is ideal for both breakfast and snack time.

Ingredients for the orange ring cake

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2/3 cup milk
  • 6.5 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1/3 cup sunflower oil
  • 2.5 fl oz orange juice
  • 1 egg
  • 1 orange (grated zest)
  • 1 packet vanillin
  • 1 packet baking powder

  • 1 Pan ring cake pan, 8-inch diameter

Preparation of the orange ring cake

  • WITH BIMBY: Put the sugar and orange zest into the bowl and blend at speed 10 for 10 seconds. Scrape down the mixture with a spatula, then add all the other ingredients and mix at speed 4 for 30 seconds.

  • WITHOUT BIMBY: In a bowl combine the sunflower oil, orange juice, egg and milk, mixing with a whisk. Then add the sugar, grated orange zest, flour, vanillin and baking powder. Mix well until you obtain a smooth batter, avoiding lumps.

  • BAKING: Pour the batter into an 8-inch ring cake pan, previously greased with a little oil.
    Bake in a preheated oven at 338°F, conventional mode, for 40 minutes. Check doneness with the toothpick test. Once ready, let it cool completely before removing it from the pan. Dust with powdered sugar if desired.

NOTES

It is recommended to use organic oranges.

You can add more orange juice if you want a stronger orange flavor.

The cake stays fresh under a glass dome for a couple of days.
