Ingredients for pineapple in a skillet

  • 1 pineapple (ripe but firm)
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • Half teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ground ginger (the tip of a teaspoon)
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 0.75 oz Marsala

Tools

  • 1 Pan
  • 1 Strainer fine-mesh – small

Preparation of pineapple in a skillet

  • Clean the pineapple and slice it first into slices about 3/8 inch thick and then into wedges. Don’t throw away the peel you remove, but use it to make a delicious drink: find the recipe by clicking HERE.

  • Heat a large pan very well, then add a tablespoon of butter. When it has melted, place the pineapple wedges in the pan trying to arrange them in a single layer without overlapping them too much.

  • Cook them over medium-high heat for 3 minutes without touching them. Then give them a good stir and continue cooking for another 3 minutes.

  • At this point, lower the heat a little and add the honey, the cinnamon and the ginger. I sifted these spices with a small fine-mesh strainer.

  • Stir quickly so as to “coat” all the pieces of fruit, then drizzle with the liqueur. One last stir and one more minute of cooking and the pineapple in the skillet is ready. A light and quick dessert that is great served warm or at room temperature. Enjoy! Paola.
