Ingredients
- 8 Oranges (untreated (not waxed))
- 34 fl oz Pure alcohol
- 4 1/4 cups Water
- 4 cups Sugar
Preparation of orange liqueur
Wash the oranges and dry them thoroughly. Using a vegetable peeler, remove the peel, avoiding the white pith which would taste bitter.
Collect the peels in a large jar, add the alcohol, stir and cover with a sheet of plastic wrap.
Store in a cool, dark place for two weeks, shaking the jar every day so the peels release their essence.
After this resting time, put the sugar and water in a small saucepan. Stir to dissolve the sugar and bring to a boil. Turn off the heat and let the mixture cool completely.
Add it to the peel-and-alcohol mixture, stir and strain your orange liqueur before bottling it.
It is preferable to let it rest for one month before consuming, but you can drink it earlier.
