Original Guacamole Recipe

Original guacamole recipe and method with mortar and pestle to blend all the ingredients, especially to crush the avocado. Honestly, a fork is also fine for mashing and blending everything together, but the mortar will definitely make it more homogeneous. We are always attracted to foreign food, the curiosity is to discover flavors and aromas beyond our own kitchen and, of course, to experiment. As happened to me, I’m sure it will happen to you too, guys, for three consecutive days I made guacamole and each time I added a bit more chili or a bit more onion and here’s the final result: a delight for an appetizer or aperitif snack.

Ingredients Needed to Make Guacamole

  • 1 avocado
  • 10 g onion
  • 6 cherry tomatoes
  • Half lime (juice)
  • 1 spicy chili
  • 1.5 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 clove garlic
  • to taste black pepper

Useful Tools for Making Guacamole

  • Mortar
  • Cutting Board
  • Garlic Press

Steps to Make Guacamole

  • After washing the cherry tomatoes, cut them into very small pieces using the cutting board and a good knife. Do the same with the onion and chili.

  • Put the avocado pulp in the mortar, divide it in half, remove the pit, and scoop out the pulp with a spoon. Start mashing it.

  • Once the avocado is creamy, add the onion with the cherry tomatoes, the chili with salt, the extra virgin olive oil with crushed garlic, and lime. Mix all the ingredients together making the guacamole homogeneous.

  • Another small turn of freshly ground black pepper and the original guacamole recipe is ready, see how easy it was to prepare and without cooking.

  • Warm a flatbread in the oven cut into strips and serve with guacamole if you don’t currently have tacos.

Garlic in Guacamole

For this recipe, apart from fresh garlic crushed with the tool (garlic press), some use garlic powder. I won’t deny that I also tried it for this recipe and I didn’t mind at all, so I would gladly recommend garlic powder for guacamole.

FAQ (Questions and Answers)

  • I don’t have coriander, how can I substitute it for guacamole?

Coriander cannot be substituted, but you can use parsley, which is very similar as a food even if it’s not the same thing. Coriander belongs to the same family as cumin, dill, fennel, and also parsley.

I also feature dishes from Lazio, the region that has hosted me for over 40 years, but in general, I cover all Italian regions. Traveling and exploring is my second passion, so I couldn't leave out dishes from around the "World" on my blog. My blog is divided into simple and essential sections like appetizers, first courses, main courses, side dishes, bread and leavened products, jams and preserves, wines and wineries, and of course, travels. Desserts are included, and finally, there is a dedicated corner for gluten-free options. Easy recipes, explained step by step and always updated.
